Remote Patient Monitoring Solution Provider Joins athenahealth Marketplace

Withings Health Solutions’ RPM products will now be available to athenahealth’s network of healthcare providers via its marketplace program.

Withings Health Solutions, a provider of remote patient monitoring (RPM) services and devices, is collaborating with athenahealth to join its marketplace program.

athenahealth is a software and services company that provides EHR, revenue cycle, patient engagement, and care coordination services. The company’s marketplace program is an EHR app store that allows its customer base to locate health IT solutions.

Withings Health Solutions is an organization that supports chronic disease prevention and management through its RPM tools, which include connected scales, blood pressure monitors, and a smart temporal thermometer.

Through the partnership, athenahealth users can order RPM services from the company’s EHR solution, which Withings will then ship. These devices include the Withings Body Pro scale and the Withings BPM Connect Pro blood pressure monitor, which connect directly to cellular networks and transmit data into their athenahealth patient chart.

Further, access to Withings RPM services involves a single sign-in process and dashboards for providers to manage all aspects of monitoring, including onboarding, setting up reviews and alerts, and, in the future, billing functions.

“Withings RPM focuses on simplicity for clinicians and patients, which has been the missing ingredient in the RPM industry until now. We are excited to bring that simplicity to the athenahealth ecosystem,” said Antoine Robiliard, vice president of Withings Health Solutions, in a press release. “Now, athenahealth users can access Withings RPM and experience its ease-of-use at each step of their clinical workflow as well as deliver the best experience to their patients. With this powerful solution, users can ensure quality data is captured, interpreted, and actioned in ways that save time and money while improving patient outcomes.”

Various recent collaborations that aimed to enhance access to RPM services.

In May, UC Davis Health and Houston Methodist worked with BioIntelliSense to enhance remote care delivery, develop hospital-to-home monitoring tools, and implement clinical intelligence platforms. BioIntelliSense offers medical grade wearable devices to enable continuous monitoring of more than 20 vital signs and physiologic biometrics for up to 30 days on a single use device.

Similarly, Novant Health partnered with Health Recovery Solutions to launch a pilot RPM program directed toward bariatric patients, with eventual plans of expanding to other patient populations. The overall goal is to limit hospital readmissions and improve outcomes.

In June 2021, the Kentucky Hospital Association worked with RPM vendor Community Wellness to make its platform available to providers across the state. This service was especially useful in treating those suffering from COVID-19, those with chronic conditions, or those who need rehabilitation after a hospital stay.
