New Virtual Resources Aim to Promote Telehealth, Enhance Access
A new medical device seeks to promote telehealth through advanced patient assessments and accurate remote diagnoses.
As virtual tools become increasingly prominent in healthcare, a new device aims to promote telehealth by assisting patients through clinical evaluation and remote monitoring.
Approved by the FDA, MedWand Solutions creates digital healthcare devices that aim to enhance the quality of consultations for patients and providers. The group combines clinicians and medical engineers to produce the best results possible.
“I am happy to share that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted 510(k) clearance to the MedWand,” shared MedWand CEO and Co-Founder, Robert Rose, in a press release. “As a company dedicated to advancing access to quality healthcare, we are proud to offer our innovative solutions to medical facilities worldwide to help lower operating costs, improve health equity, and ultimately save lives.”
Recently, the organization announced the creation of a device and VirtualCare ecosystem containing a wand device within several new kits that are adjusted based on specialty. They plan on working with health systems and physician groups to promote access to the tools.
These kits include the MedWand Evaluation Kit, which aims to evaluate patients, the MedWand Mobile Clinic, which aims to conduct virtual visits and remote patient monitoring, and the MedWand Remote Clinic, which aims to assist regional clinics and industrial efforts.
"When it comes to medical diagnostics, clinical accuracy is not just important, but critical, and MedWand's goal has always been to be the most clinically-dependable telemedicine device in the world,” shared Samir Qamar, MD, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer. “With FDA clearance, clinicians and patients everywhere can trust MedWand's vitals and remote examination tools, and experience telemedicine on an entirely new level."
As MedWand implements this new resource, it hopes to achieve a higher telehealth standard, caring for patients at a high level while supplying ease for providers.
Recent innovations from various organizations have worked to expand the boundaries of telehealth and provide improved levels of healthcare.
For example, a KLAS report from June 2022 indicated that an Epic virtual care resource led to positive results such as better patient experience and engagement. Through the platform, patients could access their personal EHR data, establish appointment times, and engage in remote visits with their providers.
Another study from July 2022 found that a continuous glucose monitor was highly influential in measuring blood sugar levels, and any changes that occur. This device was highly resourceful due to the urgency of blood sugar tracking among people on dialysis, as hypoglycemia can be dangerous.
