Part traffic cop, part telephone operator, the connection broker handles the authentication and connection between clients and VM images. It directs remote requests to the proper VM or service and simplifies reconnections if the link from the client to the VM is broken.
RDS works with third-party connection brokers, like those from EriCom and LeoStream, that ideally can be incorporated with an authentication system or directory service (such as Active Directory). Regardless of which connection broker you use, it must integrate fully with RDS to ensure security and eliminate unnecessary authentication steps.
