Mitel products revamped post-ShoreTel acquisition
In UC news, Mitel's product portfolio has rebranded for the integration of ShoreTel's UCaaS products, while the new Logitech SmartDock accessory supports meeting interoperability.
Mitel has rebranded its cloud and on-premises unified communications portfolio for the North American market. The revamped Mitel products reflect the integration of ShoreTel's cloud UC products following its acquisition by Mitel last year.
New cloud-based Mitel products include MiCloud Connect, previously called ShoreTel Connect Cloud, with Teamwork and Contact Center; and MiCloud Flex, previously MiCloud Enterprise, with MiCollab and MiCloud Contact Center.
On-premises Mitel products now include MiVoice 250 with phone manager applications; MiVoice Connect, previously ShoreTel Connect Onsite, with Connect UC and contact center; and MiVoice Business with MiCollab and MiContact Center Business.
Mitel will continue to offer its other cloud and on-premises services, including MiCloud Business, Toshiba VIPedge, and MiVoice MX-One. Mitel acquired ShoreTel to boost its hybrid UC offerings for small and midsize companies. Mitel's UCaaS services support more than one million global subscribers.
AVST updates CX-E platform to support cloud migrations
Applied Voice & Speech Technologies Inc., or AVST, announced the next generation of its CX-E UC platform, CX-E 9. The platform features expanded scalability, multi-tenancy and secure end-to-end messaging.
The updates to the platform are aimed at organizations pivoting to the cloud with support for up to 60,000 users and up to 5 million stored messages. The platform also supports Multi-tenancy deployments to allow service providers to quickly accommodate new customers.
The platform also includes support for Microsoft Exchange UM and Office 365 Forms, virtualization using Microsoft Hyper-V 2016, text notifications with Notify Express and call recording with TeamQ.
The latest release of CX-E offers secure end-to-end messaging through Microsoft's Encrypting File System, which encrypts messages through storage, transport and endpoint to protect confidential data from attackers with physical access to the computer.
AVST was acquired by venture capital firm StoneCalibre and merged with secure file exchange service provider XMedius Solutions in October 2017.
Logitech simplifies SmartDock, supports meeting interoperability
Logitech announced the SmartDock Flex, an accessory for the Skype Room Systems conferencing device, which simplifies cable management and enables interoperability with Skype for Business and other meeting services.
The SmartDock Flex offers AV passthrough technology to give external meeting services temporary access to the meeting room's camera, speakerphone and display. To join a meeting outside a Microsoft ecosystem, users can connect a laptop via HDMI and USB to allow the room's camera, speakerphone and display to connect to meeting services such as Cisco WebEx, BlueJeans and Zoom.
The Logitech SmartDock Flex also includes two cables, an HDMI cable and CAT6 cable. The new CAT6 cable removes the need for multiple cables, such as USB and power cables, to run audio, video, data and power. To project slides and documents to the meeting room's display, users can connect a laptop via the HDMI cable.
The Logitech SmartDock Flex will cost $799 and will be available in March.
