Editor's note

Changes are afoot in the unified communications market. Messaging has emerged to challenge and complement telephony. Video is appearing in more places outside conference rooms. Cloud technology continues to gather interest. Communication APIs now weave into business applications. And the contact center and unified communications continue to meld. All these applications also require a robust and well-designed network infrastructure.

UC vendors, users and analysts will dissect these topics and more at Enterprise Connect 2017, held in Orlando, Fla., from March 27 to 30. This year, event organizers jettisoned a WebRTC conference-within-a-conference that appeared at past Enterprise Connects. In its place, a series of sessions will examine technologies that could shape communications strategies by 2020.

Enterprise Connect 2017 will also feature new faces. Amazon Web Services, for instance, will have a keynote address and booth featuring its new UC service, Chime. Communications API provider Twilio also has a keynote. Google, too, has made headlines recently with its revamped Hangouts apps.

As we track these important developments, follow our comprehensive coverage of Enterprise Connect 2017, including news, trends, analysis and multimedia packages.
