This week's Risk & Repeat podcast discusses the state of the dark web in 2021, as well as the latest developments in the SolarWinds supply chain attacks.
SearchSecurity news writer Alex Culafi describes his experiences researching various sites and marketplaces for a report this week about how the dark web has changed and what enterprises should be concerned about. Culafi and SearchSecurity news director Rob Wright discuss some of the misconceptions about the dark web since the emergence of the infamous Silk Road marketplace, as well as the kind of cybercriminal activity that takes place there today, according to experts. They also debate the value of dark web monitoring products and services and how much attention enterprises should devote to hidden services.
In addition to the dark web, this episode discusses the latest update from SolarWinds' investigation into the recent supply chain attack, which revealed that nation-state threat actors first compromised the vendor's Office 365 environment before pivoting to the Orion software platform. In a statement, SolarWinds CEO Sudhakar Ramakrishna said the company is still investigating how threat actors gained access to the Office 365 environment.
