This week's Risk & Repeat podcast looks back at some of the biggest 2019 data breaches and the unsettling trends around them.
The second half of 2019 saw a number of major data breach disclosures from companies such as Capital One, T-Mobile and Zynga. The breaches affected a range of customer data, from email addresses and hashed passwords to more personal information, such as medical test results. They also produced a variety of data breach disclosures; some of the disclosures were extremely detailed and offered a fair amount of transparency, whereas others were lackluster and, in the case of ToonDoo's breach disclosure, downright strange.
In this episode of the Risk & Repeat podcast, SearchSecurity editors Rob Wright and Alex Culafi look at some of the big 2019 data breaches, as well as their disclosures, and discuss the trends around the incidents. Some of these trends include questionable password policies and the use of deprecated encryption protocols that are dangerously insecure.
