New Accedian SkyLIGHT PVX has root-cause analytics
Accedian Networks has launched its first product from the Performance Vision acquisition. SkyLIGHT PVX includes network monitoring, plus root-cause analytics and remediation.
Accedian Networks has added root-cause analytics to a rebranded version of the network performance monitoring and diagnostics software it acquired through the purchase of Paris-based Performance Vision.
This week, the vendor introduced Accedian SkyLIGHT PVX and launched an "aggressive" U.S. sales strategy for the company's first mainstream enterprise product. Accedian, a provider of network monitoring tools for carriers and large financial institutions, announced the Performance Vision acquisition in February.
The Performance Vision system, which is available as an appliance or virtualized software, captures mirrored packet traffic from network taps or packet brokers attached to network devices or software running in the data center or public or private clouds. At the capture points, the software extracts metrics and transactional information and sends it to a central database, where analytics are applied.
Accedian has added root-cause analytics and remediation to Performance Vision's passive monitoring of network performance, said Scott Sumner, vice president of strategy at Accedian, based in Montreal. The software displays intelligence from analyses on a dashboard monitored by network operators.
Accedian SkyLIGHT PVX is designed to scale up or down to fit the needs of businesses ranging from carriers to small enterprises, Sumner said.
Accedian Networks goes after U.S. enterprise market
The vendor has ramped up its U.S. sales force to sell SkyLIGHT PVX, which will compete with products from ExtraHop Networks, NetScout and Corvil. "We have all the U.S. regions covered with direct sales," Sumner said.
Accedian has also launched a partner program, starting with managed service providers. Companies can subscribe to a hosted version of SkyLIGHT PVX from one of a few dozen MSPs.
Accedian plans to expand to other types of partners in the summer, Sumner said. "It's a pretty aggressive program that we're launching into the [U.S.] market."
Performance Vision, which sold mostly to businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, had a "very low penetration" rate in all other regions, according to Gartner's February Magic Quadrant report on the network performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) market.
Gartner listed Performance Vision as one of almost a dozen niche players and estimated its revenue at between $5 million and $10 million per year. The total NPMD market is worth $2.1 billion, according to the analyst firm.
