ManageEngine Applications Manager adds OCI monitoring

ManageEngine rolls out support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure performance monitoring in its Applications Manager platform. The tool can also predict growth.

ManageEngine announced this week that its server, cloud and application performance monitoring platform Applications Manager now supports performance monitoring for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. In addition, the platform's virtualization monitoring module now supports Oracle VMs, Oracle's server virtualization product. These capabilities are intended to reassure businesses relying on OCI that their applications performs properly with ManageEngine Applications Manager.

Applications Manager offers full-stack monitoring for hybrid cloud environments, including infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring and user experience monitoring, according to ManageEngine, the IT management division of Zoho Corp. The new updates enable IT teams to monitor the performance of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle VMs, and help them respond quickly to performance issues of the OCI Compute service.

OCI has also unveiled multiple security features and updates, including Maximum Security Zones, Autonomous Database and Cloud Guard at the Oracle OpenWorld conference 2019 held this week in San Francisco.

With the advent of more cloud-centric architectures, the need for companies to gain complete visibility and monitor their infrastructure is increasing. Gartner's Market Guide for IT Infrastructure Monitoring Tools in 2018 suggested that infrastructure and operation teams must adopt more holistic IT infrastructure monitoring tools to gain visibility into their IT landscape.

According to the company, the updated capabilities of ManageEngine Applications Manager enable IT admins to:

  • gain a complete view into the performance of OCI and Oracle VMs and applications relying on them;
  • receive alerts on error conditions and faults, detect issues and root causes, and automate remedial actions before they impact users;
  • monitor the use of resources to ensure there are sufficient resources for important workloads; and
  • predict growth and use trends with machine learning analytics.

ManageEngine is demonstrating the latest updates of Applications Manager at Oracle OpenWorld this week. ManageEngine Applications Manager is available to download for a free 30-day trial.

A vendor offering application performance monitoring products, ManageEngine competes with IBM, Cisco and SolarWinds. IBM Cloud Application Performance Management's features include comprehensive user experience management, easy deployment and flexible pricing, according to the company. Cisco's AppDynamics promises complete visibility of networks, servers and containers on premises or in the cloud. SolarWinds' Server & Application Monitor offers monitor of Azure and AWS IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, customizable server monitoring and a free 30-day trial of its software.
