Epic Systems Awarded 2021 Best in KLAS for Top Overall Suite

For the 11th straight year, Epic Systems was awarded the top overall software suite in the 2021 Best in KLAS health IT rankings. Overall, Epic earned 11 awards, including the top overall physician practice vendor.

After taking home eight KLAS awards in 2020, including the top overall software suite and the top overall physician practice vendor, the Wisconsin-based EHR vendor continued its domination in 2021.

In the top overall suite rankings, Epic narrowly defeated MEDITECH Expanse, 86.9 to 85. Epic scored “well above average” in seven categories, including acute care EHR, ambulatory EHR, and home health. This was the second straight year that MEDITECH placed second for the top overall software suite. Cerner landed in third with a score of 72.3.

Epic also ranked first in overall physician practice vendor rankings. This year, Epic edged out both athenahealth and NextGen Healthcare by a score of 87.9 to 80.9. Epic Systems scored “well above average” in the over 75 physician and 11 to 75 physician practice size segments.

athenahealth’s athenaPractice EHR won the most improved physician practice product. Its customers noted the vendor has improved at setting product enhancement expectations and enhanced its relationships with its customers.

MEDITECH earned second place in several categories. It also stood out among its competitors in community hospital acute care EHR and small home health EHR.

Cerner took home the top behavioral health suite and placed in the top four in a handful of categories.

KLAS also unveiled new categories in 2021, highlighted by home health EHR, social determinants of health networks, and EHR-centric virtual care platforms.
