Health Org Taps Cerner's Cloud-Based EHR Implementation
The cloud-based Cerner EHR implementation is set to boost care coordination through enhanced interoperability of patient health data.
A healthcare organization in Northeast Texas has announced a cloud-based Cerner EHR implementation in efforts to enhance the care coordination.
Hunt Regional Healthcare will implement Cerner’s Millennium EHR platform across all of its facilities, including 18 clinics and an acute care facility, using the vendor’s CommunityWorks delivery model.
CommunityWorks is a cloud-based deployment of Cerner’s traditional health IT platform that aims to meet the needs of community, critical access, and specialty hospitals.
“We are excited to begin our collaboration with Cerner,” Lee Boles, president and CEO of Hunt Regional Healthcare, said in a public statement. “Hunt Regional’s investment in Cerner will help us continue to deliver high-quality patient care and to remain one of the leading healthcare systems in our region.”
Officials noted that the implementation includes the EHR vendor’s big data platform, HealtheIntent, which aggregates and streamlines disparate data from EHRs, claims, and other sources to create a comprehensive record for each patient.
The cloud-based EHR implementation will provide clinicians with near real-time view of a patient’s health history, which is expected to boost the patient experience by ensuring care coordination.
“Cerner is excited to collaborate with Hunt Regional Healthcare in their journey to migrate onto one, integrated clinical and financial system,” said Andy Fisher, executive director of client relationships at Cerner.
“We look forward to being part of their growth strategy in the DFW market and supporting them in the years ahead as they live their mission to continually improve the health of the people in the communities they serve by providing quality, cost-effective, and service-oriented care,” Fisher added.
Cloud-based EHR systems provide several benefits compared to traditional in-house systems, according to experts.
The cost of implementing and maintaining a cloud-based EHR system is much cheaper than an in-house EHR system. Some cloud systems even allow users to pay a lower subscription fee that can be as low as $100 per month.
Experts also say that cloud-based EHR implementations allow more secure health information sharing than in-house EHR systems. EHR security gives patients peace of mind and can prevent potential threats and breaches.
Additionally, cloud-based EHRs can aid in interoperability, as all stakeholders have access to health information through a single, secure source.
