PA Health Information Exchange Grows Data Sharing Network
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) joins over 55 healthcare organizations contributing data to Pennsylvania’s state health information exchange.
Pennsylvania’s state health information exchange (HIE) has added Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) to its data sharing network, according to reporting from The Reading Eagle.
As a Pennsylvania Patient and Provider Network (P3N) member, LVHN providers can now securely exchange real-time patient health data with health information organizations (HIOs) across the state.
The HIE has connections with over 55 Pennsylvania healthcare organizations, including HIOs coordinated by Geisinger, Main Line Health, Penn State Hershey, UPMC, and others.
“LVHN has been connected to multiple large national health information exchange networks for years and has shared over 39 million patient records with 3,400 other care providers to date,” Michael Minear, senior vice president and chief information officer of LVHN, noted in a public statement. “LVHN is excited to add this new connection to P3N as a certified HIO in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
“The breadth of the six P3N partners and networks will support LVHN sharing patient data in a secure way with even more care providers in Pennsylvania, especially long-term care and smaller ambulatory practices,” Minear added.
P3N is a part of the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority, a state agency that seeks to improve healthcare through data interoperability.
