NextGen Releases Latest EHR Tool for Behavioral Health, Human Services

NextGen Healthcare's latest version of its behavioral health suite aims to enhance clinical documentation for patients with disabilities.

Health IT vendor NextGen Healthcare has announced the newest release of its integrated behavioral health suite, which includes new clinical documentation features and workflow functionality.

The NextGen Behavioral Health Suite is the industry's first platform to integrate physical, behavioral health, human services, and oral health in one software solution.

The newest release of the solution offers an integrated platform that addresses outpatient mental health services, substance use disorders, crisis services, residential treatment services, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and primary care.

The suite includes new service plans and notes that aim to help providers document daily living activities for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The EHR platform also includes enhanced summary reporting to show outcomes and improvement over time.

"NextGen Healthcare's revolutionary technologies are addressing a significant gap in providing true whole-person care," Shar Najafi-Piper, PhD, chief executive officer for longstanding NextGen Enterprise customer Copa Health, said in a public statement.

"The integrated solution supports our mission of providing holistic care in a differentiated manner by combining primary care, behavioral health, and human services in one patient record," Najafi-Piper added.

NextGen Healthcare officials noted that the newest release of its behavioral health suite includes clinical workflow improvements, such as options for integrated service plans, program caseload summary, and updated psychiatric advance directive and customization.

The offering also includes expanded reporting capabilities that are set to address standard metrics to help practices enhance outcomes and manage reimbursement.

"At NextGen Healthcare, we are committed to advancing our solutions to support integrated whole-person health and reduce care disparities. Bringing multi-specialty care information together from across community health services to one integrated platform represents a significant milestone in that journey," said Srinivas (Sri) Velamoor, chief growth and strategy officer for NextGen Healthcare.

"Clients such as Copa Health are valued partners in our quest to deliver the best possible health outcomes to our communities," Velamoor wrote.
