eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks is a Massachusetts-based company that sells electronic medical record (EMR), practice management and personal health record software and services to healthcare providers. According to the company, more than 115,000 physicians and 70,000 facilities in the United States use its software.

The eClinicalWorks modules are available as on-site client/server deployments or as software as a service and can be purchased individually or collectively. When integrated, the modules let providers review patient health records, including past visits, current medications, allergies, labs and diagnostic tests while also managing patient accounts and verifying eligibility for services. Patients can request prescription refills, send messages to physicians, and view lab results and appointment reminders.

A mobile browser is also offered by eClinicalWorks that healthcare providers can access using a smartphone and an embedded messaging service based on voice over IP.

eClinicalWorks primarily targets physician practices and allows physicians to view and use as much or as little personal wellness data, with the patient's consent, as they want. The EHR is also interoperable with any hospital system that uses the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise standards. As of 2016, eClinicalWorks holds 10% of the cloud-based EHR vendor market share.

The eClinicalWorks 10e suite

eClinicalWorks 10e is a platform- and device-agnostic suite of cloud-based tools that include big data and Telehealth visits. The EHR suite supports meaningful use stage 1 and Stage 2. According to the company, many of the features within the suite can be configured on a per provider basis. EClinicialWorks 10e supports electronic prescribing and allows providers to access lab and test results, as well as patient education material.

Electronic referrals are also supported by eClinicalWorks, making it easy for providers to share patient information, such as summary of care records, with others on the network. Providers can build their own network of care providers, including those who do not use eClinicalWorks, with whom they can share information electronically.

Healow (Health and Online Wellness)

Healow is a subsidiary of eClinicalWorks that focuses on expanding and enhancing patient engagement. Healow has partnered with technology companies such as Withings, Fitbit and Jawbone.

The healow mobile app allows patients to access electronic health records for themselves and their minor children. The app also allows patients to personalize and manage their medications, as well as receive medication reminders and send refill requests. Additionally, the healow app can send automated reminders for upcoming appointments and a visit summary at the end of the appointment.

Population Health (CCMR)

Care Coordination Medical Record (CCMR) is eClinicalWorks' web-based population health management platform that provides accountable care organizations with analytics about clinical quality measures and cost utilization. The population health management analytics also provide reporting, alerting and measuring capabilities.
