AtScale updates its data warehouse virtualization platform
AtScale 2019.1 comes with many new capabilities, including extended database support, increased security and advanced analytical query capabilities.
AtScale Inc. updated its data warehouse virtualization platform to AtScale 2019.1, intending to expand support, security and cloud data transformation across on-premises, hybrid cloud and multi-cloud deployments.
By employing APIs and metadata to create a data integration layer, data virtualization creates a unified view of data. Data warehouse virtualization is especially beneficial for companies dealing with diverse data sets that various members create; with virtualization, data is desiloed and easily accessible from one place, according to the vendor.
With the new version, AtScale 2019.1 now accommodates Microsoft Power BI, Teradata, PostgreSQL and Oracle databases. The vendor intends AtScale 2019.1 to modernize warehouse architecture and enable deeper data analysis.
Major capabilities available with AtScale 2019.1 include the following:
- Native multidimensional support for Microsoft Power BI and Excel enables live connectivity for data stored in Snowflake and Google BigQuery through secure, governed data access without moving, extracting or copying data. Support includes full MDX and multidimensional support beyond SQL and integration with AtScale's Universal Semantic Layer in Power BI.
- Accelerated data platform migration with AtScale's Data Platform SDK allows enterprises to add support for new data platforms and extend native platform coverage, migrate analytical workloads to the cloud and reflects support for OpenJDK 11.0.2.
- Advanced analytical query capabilities, through AtScale's online analytical processing functionality, improves time-series analysis with wide table planning and supports decimal and numeric data types for users to perform complex queries with user-defined precision.
- Enterprise cloud-native identity management with SAML 2.0 support secures data at rest and in flight. In addition to Active Directory and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, SAML 2.0 enables enterprises to extend AtScale's True Delegation capabilities to its federated identity infrastructure of choice in on-premises, hybrid cloud and multi-cloud implementations.
Driven by the penetration of the internet and huge amounts of structured and unstructured data within enterprises, the data warehouse as a service (DWaaS) market is expected to grow 22% from 2019 to 2026. Key players that continue to innovate in the realm of DWaaS to meet this demand include AtScale, IBM, AWS, Snowflake, Teradata and Actian.
AtScale touts a 125% growth in new business from last quarter and hopes AtScale 2019.1 will continue the momentum of previous innovation, including its integration with Snowflake's cloud-based data warehouse in March.
