Data backup and recovery software: 2017 Products of the Year finalists
The backup and disaster recovery software and services finalists include established vendors and newer entrants, offering a wide range of protection across platforms.
The seven finalists in the data backup and recovery software and services category for Storage magazine and SearchStorage's 2017 Storage Products of the Year competition include several big players and reflect some major trends in the market.
As it has the last few years, the cloud played a big role in the top backup and recovery software products. But customers are looking for data protection across multiple platforms, so physical and virtual backup and recovery were important as well. Some of the finalist products scored the triple play of physical, virtual and cloud support.
Object storage is another trend reflected among the finalists, as several products featured object storage support. Surprisingly, only one finalist made ransomware protection a top priority. That capability should become more common in the years ahead.
The data backup and recovery software and services category covers backup and recovery software, cloud backup and recovery services, and on-premises backup and disaster recovery, snapshotting, replication and archiving products.
