TX Insurance Administrator Discloses Healthcare Data Breach
Bay Bridge Administrators (BBA) experienced a data security incident that impacted individuals enrolled in some employment insurance benefits.
Austin, Texas-based Bay Bridge Administrators (BBA) suffered a data security incident that impacted individuals enrolled in some employment insurance benefits administered by BBA in 2022.
On September 5, BBA discovered a network disruption and immediately took steps to investigate. BBA later determined that an unauthorized party had gained access to its network in late August and obtained certain data.
The data involved in the incident included names, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, medical information, driver’s license numbers, and dates of birth. BBA began notifying impacted individuals of the breach on December 29 and offered victims 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.
“The privacy and protection of personal information is a top priority for BBA, which deeply regrets any inconvenience or concern this incident may cause,” the notice concluded.
Payment Card Info Compromised at Your Patient Advisor by Captify Health
Your Patient Advisor by Captify Health, a retailer of colonoscopy preparation supplies, disclosed a breach that impacted the payment card data of more than 244,000 individuals.
According to a notice provided to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, Your Patient Advisor launched an investigation after receiving reports of suspicious activity on some customer credit cards in March 2021.
The investigation revealed that Your Patient Advisor’s website had been compromised, exposing the full names, addresses, payment card numbers, dates of birth, expiration dates, and security codes of customers.
“Your Patient Advisor has implemented additional security measures to secure its online ordering platform to reduce the risk of a similar incident occurring in the future and to protect the privacy and security of all personal information in its possession,” the notice stated. “Also, out of an abundance of caution, Your Patient Advisor has taken steps to ensure its platform is safe and secure for all purchase.”
CentraState Continues to face IT Disruptions
As previously reported, New Jersey-based CentraState Healthcare System began experiencing an IT network issue on December 30 that was impacting some of its patient services.
According to a January 10 update, CentraState is continuing to experience IT network issues at a few remaining lab locations.
“Our high standards of patient care remain in place and our emergency department continues to function at near full capability with some limited exceptions,” the notice stated.
“We encourage patients to contact 911 for emergencies. We continue to see those scheduled for inpatient procedures while some outpatient appointments have been postponed or rescheduled. We appreciate your patience as we work through these issues.”
