Rick Sherman

Rick Sherman, who died in January 2023, was the founder and managing partner of Athena Solutions, a Maynard. Mass.-based firm that provides BI, data warehousing and data management consulting services. He also taught classes in those fields as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University's Graduate School of Engineering, as well as on-site training courses for corporate clients.

Sherman had more than 40 years of professional experience with data warehousing and decision support systems. His background included a mix of software engineering, IT, project management, people management and consulting expertise. These varied perspectives enabled him to view data warehousing and BI projects from various sides of the table.

Prior to starting Athena Solutions, Sherman was a consulting director at PwC. Previous employers also included Digital Equipment Corp., Norton and Bristol Myers Squibb. He held an MBA and a B.S. in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and had completed most of the course work for a master's degree in computer science from Boston University.
