Greg Day
Vice-president and CSO for EMEA, Palo Alto Networks
Greg Day is vice-president and chief security officer (CSO) for Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) at Palo Alto Networks.
Day is a respected thought leader and advocate for stronger proactive cyber security, who has lived and breathed cyber security since the dawn of the industry – developing his own behavioural security solution as long ago as 1995.
His personal mission is about increasing the understanding of the challenges and opportunities from how cyber security empowers organisational change and growth.
Day’s desire to educate organisations on these issues stems from many years working at the frontline of cyber security prevention and remediation as a former CLAS information security consultant vetted by the UK government and a leader of several consultancy practices.
He has worked closely with many law enforcement agencies on improving the prevention and detection of cyber criminal behaviour. This has included previously teaching malware forensics to agencies around the world, as well as working in advisory capacities for the Council of Europe on cyber crime, the UK National Crime agency, and currently sitting on the Europol cyber security industry advisory board.
Day’s passion – after flying drones, golf and skiing – is building stronger mutual understanding between non-technical and cyber security leaders within organisations.
As part of Palo Alto Network’s Office of the CSO team, Day is a regular writer and contributor of essays and blogs on cyber security issues, as well as a keynote speaker and expert panelist on industry forums across EMEA.
On policy, Day acts an industry advisor within many crucial cybersecurity organisations, including being the former vice-chair of TechUK Cybersecurity Working Group, given evidence both in the UK Parliament and Brussels, and at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
