Frank Delporte
Senior Technical Writer, Azul Systems
Frank Delporte is a software developer, technical lead and writer with more than 30 years of experience in video, multimedia, technical project management, digital signage and web programming.
Delporte worked for 10 years at Televic Rail where he fell in love with Java, then moved to robotics company Eeve where he used Java for several back-end services. Since June 2022 he has been a technical writer at Azul Systems. In 2023 he was selected by peers as a Java Champion for his contributions to the Java community: writing articles and books (he authored Getting Started with Java on Raspberry Pi), teaching, videos and speaking at conferences and JUGs.
He has contributed to open source projects including Pi4J, and in 2024 was nominated as a Vaadin Champion.
Delporte loves to talk and write about all things Java because there are many excellent frameworks, libraries and tools created by brilliant people to build whatever fits a specific business need, often available for free or freemium. His current work tools include Java, GitHub and GitLab, Atlassian, IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio Code and AsciiDoc. He also uses, or has used, many others including: ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, Angular, React, SQL Server, Flex, CSS, HTML5, Eclipse, QT and Python.
Additionally, Delporte is the lead coach of the CoderDojo Belgium club which teaches children to program in systems such as Scratch, Arduino, Minecraft and Mindstorms. He is available for hire for small coding jobs, writing and presenting.
