Clive Longbottom

Clive Longbottom is an independent commentator on the impact of technology on organizations and was a co-founder and service director at Quocirca. He has also been an ITC industry analyst for more than 30 years. Trained as a chemical engineer, he worked on anti-cancer drugs, car catalysts and fuel cells before moving to IT. He has worked on many office automation projects, as well as Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulation, document management and knowledge management projects. Since becoming an industry analyst, he has pressed home the message that technology is all about supporting and facilitating an organization's processes. Clive is a fellow of the London-based Royal Society of Arts, through which he looks for ways technology can help people in their day-to-day work.

Trained as a chemical engineer, Clive sees everything as a process or a task and looks to see how to optimize these via IT to add positive value to organizations.
